Glissmeyer Ties For 5th At UH Hilo Invitational

Sophomore Tom Glissmeyer fired a final-round 69 to tie for fifth place and freshman Jamie Lovemark turned in his seventh straight round in the 60s to tie for 15th to lead the No. 7 USC men's golf team on the last day of the 17th annual UH-Hilo Invitational on Friday (Feb. 9) at the Waikoloa Village G.C.
The Trojans finished fifth with a combined 819 (275-270-274, -21), 18 shots off winner No. 2 Stanford (803). No. 3 Oklahoma State also finished at 803, but fell in a playoff. Arizona State was third (816) while Georgia Tech was fourth (818). The fifth-place finish marks USC's fifth time in the top five in five starts in the 2006-07 season.
Glissmeyer's tie for fifth marks his second top five finish of the season. He carded a 9-under 201 for the tournament and his 69 marked the fifth straight round in the 60s for the sophomore.
Lovemark has set the standard for consistently strong play this season for the Trojans. His final-round 69 gave him a 54-hole 204 (-6) and marked his fifth top 15 finish of the season.
Senior Joshua Wooding wrapped up play with a season-low 2-under 68 for a three-day 210 (E), tying for 43rd.
Senior Jordan Nasser and freshman Rory Hie finished tied for 47th at 211 (+1). For Hie, he complemented his second-round 69 with a final round 68, tying his season low. Nasser finished play with a 71.
USC returns to action March 5 and 6 when it hosts the 2007 Ashworth Invitational at North Ranch C.C. in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
