Men's Golf Finishes Sixth At Hawaii-Hilo Intercollegiate

HILO, HAWAII - Led by senior Alex Prugh's final round score of 5-under 65, Washington men's golf finished sixth at the Hawaii-Hilo Intercollegiate held at the Waikoloa Village Golf Course, Friday.

The Huskies saved their best for last, carding an 8-under 272 over the final 18 holes of the tournament to finish 19-under 821 overall. The Huskies steadily improved through the three rounds after shooting 4-under 276 in the first round, Wednesday, and 7-under 273 in the second, Thursday.

Prugh was the Huskies' top finisher, tying for fifth after matching his career-best with a 65 in the final round. Prugh ended the tournament at 9-under 201, shooting 68 in both the first two rounds.

Freshman Joel Dahmen tied for 18th, shooting 5-under 205 overall (68-67-70), while sophomore John Wise tied for 35th at 2-under 208 (66-70-72). Senior Erik Olson and sophomore transfer Chris Killmer tied for 52nd, shooting 2-over 212. Olson carded an even-par 70 in the final round after recording rounds of 74 and 68 in the earlier rounds. Killmer matched a career-best shooting a 3-under 67 over the final 18 holes, his low round of the tournament after carding a 75 and 70.

Junior Zach Bixler competed as an individual, tying for 26th at 4-under 206. Bixler's low round of the tournament also came in the final round, carding a 2-under 68.

Stanford won the team title at 37-under 803, defeating Oklahoma State in a playoff. The Cowboys also finished at 37-under 803. Arizona State was third at 24-under 816.
