Men's Tennis Tops Santa Clara 5-2

TEMPE, Ariz. - After taking the doubles point and rallying off four singles wins, the Arizona State Men's Tennis team stepped up to top the Santa Clara Broncos 5-2 Friday afternoon at ASU's Whiteman Tennis Center. The Sun Devils are now a perfect 5-0 going into Saturday's match against #27 Georgia Tech.

ASU came out strong in doubles as they took two of three led by Wes Miller and Matt Brooklyn in the No. 1 spot topping Kevin McQuaid and Blane Shields 8-3 followed with a 9-8 win from T.J. Bellama and Murilo Souza in the three-spot over Brian Brogan and Robert Gallman.

In singles action Matt Brooklyn and Juan Carlos Rebaza grabbed wins for the Devils again, both in straight sets as Brooklyn defeated SC's Jan Macek 6-3, 6-3 and Rebaza beat Brian Brogan 6-2, 6-0. T.J. Bellama and Murilo Souza followed suit with Bellama topping Bobby Rasmussen 6-4, 6-3 and Souza finishing Tommy Hicks 6-3, 6-4 to give ASU a 5-2 win.

The Sun Devils now set for their match versus the No. 27 Georgia Tech Yellowjackets tomorrow at noon at ASU's Whiteman Tennis Center.
