Women's Gymnastics Finish Third in UNO's Classic

TEMPE, Ariz., -- The California women's gymnastics team fell to No. 21 Arizona State and No. 8 Oklahoma on Friday evening in Tempe, Ariz., in Arizona State's UNO's Classic.

Arizona State won the meet with its score of 196.400. The Sooners were second with their team score of 196.275. Cal finished the meet third, with the score of 190.900.

The Golden Bears continued their strength on the floor this season, posting a team score of 48.050, marking their third straight meet with a score of 48.000. Senior Justine Cephus scored a team-high 9.700 in the event. Senior Elyse Wong posted a 9.625, while junior Nicki Wells was credited with a 9.600.

On the vault, senior Isabel Garcia showed her dominance in the event with her team-high 9.725 in the event. Both junior Siobhan Luce and sophomore Bridgette Glass scored a 9.650 also on the vault.

Sophomore Jessica Kelley posted a 9.750 on the beam, as Wong notched a 9.725 in the event.

The Bears will return home to host Washington on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. (PT). The meet will be held in Haas Pavilion.

In conjunction with this meet the Golden Bear gymnasts will be soliciting flat donations or pledges for every Cal score of 9.5 and above. Cal will be donating all money earned to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Bay Area Affiliate. You are also more than welcome to make a flat donation towards the cause. With your help we hope to raise funds to eradicate breast cancer as a life threatening disease through research, education, screening, and treatment.
