Young Rises to 5th Place in 1m-Final at Pac-10 Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - California freshman Samantha Young took fifth place in the one-meter springboard final on Saturday afternoon at the Pac-10 Diving Championships in the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center. Young recorded a score of 261.85 in the final, after taking eighth place in the one-meter preliminary earlier in the day.

Stanford's Cassidy Krug (293.45) added the one-meter conference title to the three-meter championship she won yesterday.

Golden Bears freshman Stephanie Whalen scored a 219.15 (16th place) and freshman teammate Kristen Duffel scored 155.20(23rd) in the prelim.

The Pac-10 Diving Championships concludes tomorrow with the platform competition. The women's prelim is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. and the final starts at 3:30 p.m.
