Women's Golf In 7th After First Round Of Regional Challenge

Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. - The Stanford women's golf team shot an opening round of 21-over 305 in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the par-71, 5,912-yard Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Caridinal's score puts them in seventh place overall just eight strokes off the pace set by overall leader Pepperdine (297). Rounding out the top five are Florida (299), Arizona State (300), Texas A&M (300) and Arizona (301).
Leading the Stanford charge was Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana who carded a one-over par 72 on the day. Tangtiphaiboontana recorded four birdies on the afternoon including holes five, nine, 14 and 16. Teammate Mari Chun checks in tied for 19th on the individual leaderboard with a five-over par 76. Chun had one birdie on the day at the fifth hole. Angela King checks in tied for 35th after round one with a seven-over par 78. King also had one birdie - hers coming on the par four hole no. 11. Cardinal Lauren Todd is tied for 40th with a 79, just one stroke behind King. Todd posted birdies on the fifth and 17th holes. Rounding out the Stanford competitors was Ki-Shui Liao, who is tied for 71st with an 85.
Pepperdine's Jayvie Agojo leads the field with a two-under par 69, followed closely by Arizona's Adriana Zwanck (70). Only two players managed under par rounds on the afternoon while only four recorded even par or under scores.
