Cal Improves to 12th After Day 2 of Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. - The California women's golf team jumped one spot to 12th place Tuesday after the second round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Golden Bears carded a 29-over 313 and have a two-day score of 631.
Pepperdine leads the 15-team tournament at 594, while Arizona State is second at 598. Florida (603), USC (606), Texas A&M (608) and Arizona (608) round out the top six teams. Host-Ohio State is in 13th at 632.
Sophomore Allison Goodman continues to lead the Bears, moving up four places to a tie for sixth at six-over 148. Goodman started the day at three over on the back nine and rallied to finish at even par on the front nine, including birdies on the par 5, seventh hole and the par 3, eighth hole.
Cal freshman Roseanne Niven remained in a tie for 40th place at 157 following a round of 78 today. Sophomore Shannon Yocum is tied for 60th at 162, junior Enu Chung is tied for 71st at 166, and freshman Sofia Janer is tied for 73rd at 167. Chung, who took eight shots off of her first-day score, recorded two birdies in the second round, and Janer posted one birdie.
Pepperdine's Jayvie Agojo continued to lead the individual race at even-par 142, four shots ahead of Arizona's Adriana Zwanck and Texas A&M's Christa Spedding.
Play concludes Wednesday with a shotgun start beginning at 8:15 a.m. The Bears will begin on the back nine for the third consecutive day.
