Fred Washington Set To Return For 2007-08 Season

Feb. 16, 2007

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford men's basketball player Fred Washington was granted a medical hardship waiver for his season-ending injury last season and will return to play for the Cardinal for the 2007-08 season.

'We're happy to have him back,' Stanford head men's basketball coach Trent Johnson said. 'With Fred returning, just based off the improvement he has made as a player this year, he should be a much better player next year. He will be one ofthe focal leaders of this basketball team, by example and by being vocal.'

Washington only played in five games during the 2005-06 season before a knee injury cut the season short. He had surgery on January 23, 2006 to repair a tear in his patella in his left knee.

This year, the 6-5 forward, has started all 24 games for the Cardinal, averaging 7.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
