MBB Looks For Big 12 Road Win At Texas Tech, Saturday

FOR STARTERS: Dating back to last season, CU has lost 10 straight Big 12 road games, five straight this season ... In those 10 games, the opponent is outscoring CU, 81.8-to-64.8; in five Big 12 games this season, 84.2-to-64.0 ... In conference road games, the Buffaloes have netted under 60 points, three times (OU, NU, K-State) ... Last Big 12 road win, Jan. 21, 2006 at Oklahoma State (80-78, ot) ... SOMETHING POSITIVE: Xavier Silas has 248 points this season, good enough for ninth place on CU's freshman list ... CU last won in Lubbock on Jan. 20, 2001 (88-71) ... With two home games remaining, CU is 7-3 against Kansas State in Boulder under Coach Patton; and 6-4 versus Nebraska. The Buffs have won four of its last five games at home against both schools.

CU vs. TTU: Although CU leads the all-time series, 16-8, Texas Tech has won four of the last six games under head coach Bob Knight, including the last two in Lubbock by an average of 8.5 points. Coach Patton is 2-1 against Coach Knight in Boulder and 0-1 at the Big 12 Tournament (2003-04). For history buffs, Coach Patton topped Coach Knight's Indiana Hoosiers (80-62) back on March 13, 1997 at the NCAA Tournament 1st Round (Winston-Salem, N.C.).

HOOK SHOTS: Xavier Silas has led CU in scoring six of his last eight games ... Richard Roby did not start vs. Kansas (Feb. 14), only his second game not to start (the other Senior Day, March 4); he has never missed a game in three years at CU (81-straight) ... Roby is 16 points from 10th place on the all-time scoring list (1,337) ... Dominique Coleman is first in rebounding (6.2); assists with 72 (3.4), steals (35, 1.7 apg.) and defensive rebounding (99). He has had six or more rebounds in nine of the last 11 outings. In his last three games, Coleman is averaging 14.0 ppg., 9.7 rpg., 3.3 apg. ... Marcus King-Stockton has 15 rebounds in his last two games (7.5 rpg.) ... Roby (31.2) and Silas (30.3) have logged the most minutes a game; first two players to average 30+ in a season since 2002-03 (Blair Wilson, Michel Morandais) ... Nine players have seen action in all 11 conference games. QUICKLY ON THE RED RAIDERS: Texas Tech enters the game with a 16-10 record and a 5-6 mark in the conference. Three of the those five Big 12 wins came against Kansas and a pair over Texas A&M, two teams in the nation's top-10. The Red Raiders are struggling have lost five of its last six, only by an average of 8.6 points. TTU is 10-3 at home with losses to Stanford, UNLV and Nebraska.

X Factor: Since leading the team in scoring six of the last eight games, freshman Xavier Silas has also led the team in assists and steals three times. Overall, he's second in scoring (11.8 ppg.), one of six players over four boards a game and is second in minutes played (30.3).

50% FG% (opponents): The Buffs have allowed the opponent (at BU, at KU, Mizzou, at Nebraska) to shoot 50% FG or better in four of seven games. The four straight games over 50% was a school first in 18 years. The last time this happened was the 1989-90 season when CU allowed five opponents to shoot 50% or better, TWICE. That year the Buffs finished 12-18 and 2-12 in the Big Eight. Six of CU's 10 Big 12 opponents this season have shot 50% or better.

LAST TIME OUT:An early deficit turned into another Kansas win over Colorado, Wednesday night at the Events Center. The Jayhawks took a 75-46 victory behind 14 points by Russell Robinson, 11 from Darrell Arthur and 10 from Sasha Kahn. Roby, who finished with seven points, had started every game of his three-year career except for senior day his first two seasons. Silas, who scored 11, had started 16 straight games.

ON THE ROAD IN THE BIG 12: Since the Big 12 formed (1996-97), CU has played 85 regular season games on the road. Heading into 2006-07, the Buffaloes under Coach Patton are 21-64 (.247). That means an average of 2.1 wins a season and 5.9 losses in eight road games. The highest win total was 4-4 in 1996-97; their lowest was one win in each of the 2002-03 (Baylor), 2001-02 (Texas A&M) and 1999-2000 Kansas State) seasons.

CRASHING THE BOARDS: In 11 Big 12 games, CU has five players with at least 50 rebounds and all are averaging over 4.5 a game. Dominique Coleman tops the list (80, 7.3 rpg.), followed by Marcus King-Stockton (56, 5.1) and Richard Roby (54, 4.9). Jeremy Williams and Xavier Silas each have 50 (4.5).

SCHOOL RECORD: With eight home losses this season, CU has tied the school record for home losses (1995-96, 1985-86, 1975-76). There's two more games remaining at the Events Center, Kansas State (Feb. 24) and Nebraska (March 3)

TOP-10 SHOOTER: Richard Roby ranks among the top-10 field goals attempts list. Entering today's game, Roby has 1,104 attempts good enough for ninth place at CU. As for field goals made, Roby is a bit behind Scott Wedman's 10th place of 516. Roby has 456 field goals made.
