Feb. 17, 2007
Jumpers Keneisha Creary, Ingrid Kantola and Renee Williams punched their tickets to Fayetteville, AR for the NCAA Indoor Championships in March after producing NCAA automatic qualifiers in Flagstaff, AZ on Saturday. It was the second weekend in a row in which all three produced lifetime-best marks.
Creary, competing in the high jump, won the event with a jump of 6-0.25. The mark improved on her previous best (5-11.25) and moved her to No. 6 all-time in Bruin history. It also ranks eighth in the NCAA this season.
Kantola finished second to former Bruin Chelsea Johnson, as both cleared 13-10. Kantola placed second based on misses. Her mark improved on her lifetime-best by 7.50 inches and moved her into the No. 4 spot in the country. It also now ranks third all-time at UCLA.
Williams jumped over a two-foot indoor lifetime-best in the triple jump to win that event, leaping out to a distance of 43-10.75 (previous best, 41-8.75). The mark now ranks Williams No. 3 in the nation and No. 4 all-time at UCLA.
