Golfers Tied for Sixth after Day One in Florida

The UCLA men's golf team was tied for sixth place after the first round of competition Sunday at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational, hosted by the University of North Florida at TPC Sawgrass in Pnte Vedra Beach, FL.

The Bruins posted a team score of 309 (+21) tied with host North Florida, and were six shots behind first place Alabama (303, +15). Vanderbilt was second at 304 (+16), followed by Georgia State at 305 (+17), Augusta State and Charlotte were tied for fourth at 307 (+19).

Individually for the Bruins, junior Kevin Chappell was tied for first place at even par 72 with Pepperdine's Shane Mason. Junior Daniel Im was tied for 23rd at 77 (+5), and senior Peter Campbell was tied for 46th after carding a 79 (+7). Sophomore Erik Flores was tied for 53rd after posting a score of 81 (+9) and classmate James Lee was tied for 71st following an 83 (+11).
