USC's Dejan Cvetkovic Named Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - USC senior Dejan Cvetkovic has been named the Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week for Feb. 19-25, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Cvetkovic, a native of Montreal, Quebec, scored two singles wins last week plus a doubles victory to propel 13th-ranked USC to 6-1 wins over 18th-ranked Texas A&M and 47th-ranked San Diego
In the San Diego match on Friday, Feb. 23, Cvetkovic posted a decisive win over Conor Pollock, 6-1, 6-4, in the No. 2 singles slot. Cvetkovic also teamed up with Jamil Al-Agba to defeat A&M's No. 1 doubles team of Wooten and Joelson, 9-7, winning the doubles point for USC. Al-Agba and Cvetkovic are 7-0 this year as a tandem.
Cvetkovic, currently ranked 71st in the Fila Rankings, had the clinching singles win on Saturday against the Toreros, fighting through a first-set tiebreaker to defeat Jonas Mouly, 7-6 (5), 6-3, at second singles. Cvetkovic is now 12-4 in singles play and 6-2 in dual matches.
With its 9-0 record, USC is off to its best season start since 1991. The Trojans spend this week concentrating on their doubles play at the Pacific Coast Doubles Tournament in La Jolla, Calif. from March 2-4.
This is Cvetkovic's second Pac-10 Player of the Week honor, the first coming on March 13, 2006. It is the third all-time award for USC.
