With the Pac-10 Gymnastics Championship only four weeks away, competition is tight. CALIFORNIA will host No.17 ARIZONA in Haas Pavilion Fri., Mar. 2, at 7: 30 p.m. WASHINGTON will take the long trip south to take on ARIZONA STATE in Tempe, Fri., Mar. 2, at 7:30 p.m. No. 11 OREGON STATE will travel to Boise to take on Boise State, UC Davis and Seattle Pacific in a quad-meet on Fri., Mar. 2, at 7:00 p.m. Just two days later, two gymnastics powerhouses will meet in Los Angeles when No. 6 UCLA will host No. 2 Georgia on Sun., Mar. 4, at 2:00 p.m.

OREGON STATE sophomore Tasha Smith has been named Pacific-10 Conference Gymnast of the Week for February 20 - 26, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Smith, from Auburn, Wash., had an outstanding performance in front of her home crowd. Smith recorded season-highs on all four events while equalling career-highs on vault, bars and floor. She also set a personal standard in the all-around scoring 39.550. This score tied Jami Lanz's all-around score from last week, placing Smith tied for the 12th highest all-around score of an Oregon State gymnast. Smith captured the all-around and floor titles in this three-way match in Washington. All of these outstanding scores led the Beavers to their highest score (196.975) in four seasons and the 11th best score in school history. Smith's score was instrumental in helping Oregon State climb from No. 15 to No. 11 in the weekly rankings.

Oregon State continues their three-week road trip in Boise, Idaho where it will face Boise State University, UC Davis and Seattle Pacific Fri., Mar. 2, at 7:00 p.m.

  • ARIZONA - The 13th ranked Arizona women's gymnastics team defeated rival Arizona State by a score of 195.000-193.975 ... The victory was the first for the Wildcats over their intra-state rival since the NCAA South Central Championships in 2005 ... Sophomore Bree Workman tallied an event high 9.875 to win the individual title on the vault ... Senior Jamie Holton scored a 9.850 on the floor, earning her a share of the individual title with junior teammate Karin Wurm ... The Wildcats will travel to Berkeley, Calif., to take on California Fri., Mar. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at Haas Pavilion.

  • ARIZONA STATE - Despite having the top two finishers in the all-around, the Arizona State women's gymnastics team fell to No. 13 Arizona 195.000-193.975 ... Sophomore Nicole Harris won her second all-around competition of the season with a 39.125, and captured the bars individual title with a season-high 9.850 ... Senior Cassandra Jusino finished second in the all-around with a 39.000 ... The Sun Devils host Washington Fri., Mar. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Alumni Meet.

  • CALIFORNIA - The Bears defeated Cal State Fullerton, 192.450-191.925, picking up their first victory of the season in Los Angeles ... Sophomore Bridgette Glass competed in the all-around competition for the first time in her Cal career posting a team-best all-around score of 38.900. Glass notched career-highs on the vault (9.825) and bars (9.850) ... Cal recorded their season-best vault score of 48.875 in the quad-meet ...The Bears will return home to host No. 13 Arizona on Fri., Mar. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at Haas Pavilion.

  • OREGON STATE - The Beavers posted the 11th best team score in OSU history reaching the 196-point mark for the second week in a row scoring 196.975 in their win over Washington and Seattle Pacific ... For the second consecutive week OSU surpassed the 49-point mark on all four events setting season-highs on uneven bars (49.200), floor exercise (49.375) and vault (49.375) ... Sophomore Tasha Smith's score of 39.550 ties for the 12th best all-around score ever by an OSU gymnast ... The Beavers compete next week in Boise, Idaho where they will face Boise State, UC Davis and Seattle Pacific on Fri., Mar. 2, at 7:00 p.m.

  • STANFORD - Stanford with only its second loss of the season, fell 195.800 - 196.350 to Nebraska but defeated NC State with a 194.475 ... Freshman Carly Janiga's 39.15 was enough to capture second place in the all-around .. The Cardinal now look forward to a weekend off from competition before returning to Burnham Pavilion, Fri., Mar. 9, at 7:30 p.m. when they host the University of Oklahoma.

  • UCLA - The sixth-ranked UCLA Gymnastics (196.250) team recorded a season-high score of 49.700 on the uneven bars to defeat 11th-ranked Denver (193.700), California (192.450) and Cal State Fullerton (191.925) in the annual John Wooden Challenge ... Sophomore Ariana Berlin won the all-around with a career-high 39.325 ... Junior sisters (Jordan Schwikert and Tasha Schwikert) had stand out performances on the beat with Jordan recording a season-high 9.875 and Tasha recording a 9.900 to win the event for the fifth-straight meet ... The Bruins will next host two-time defending champion Georgia on Sun., Mar. 4 at 2 p.m. at Pauley Pavilion.

  • WASHINGTON - No. 28 Washington posted its highest team score in nearly three years to take second place in a three-way meet at Bank of America Arena. No. 15 Oregon State earned the team title with a 196.975, ahead of Washington's 195.800 and the 190.050 of third-place Seattle Pacific ... Junior Nikki Waiss lit the spark for Washington's explosive night with a win on bars with a score of 9.925 a career-best and equal to the highest individual score by a Husky this year ... Washington also established season-highs on vault (49.100), beam (48.850) and floor (49.125) ... The Huskies hit the road and head south to Tempe to take on Arizona State on Fri. Mar. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
