Four Doubles Teams to Compete at Pacific Coast Championships

March 1, 2007

Four doubles teams, including one with assistant coach David Hodge, will compete in the 118th Pacific Coast Doubles Tournament beginning today at the LaJolla Beach and Tennis Club. The tournament consists of a 128-team draw and will run through Sunday, March 4.

Stanford will be represented by four teams, including Hodge teaming with sophomore Blake Muller, Kevin Kaiser and David Ryan, Paul Morrissey and Richard Wire and Eric McKean and Jeff Zeller.

Hodge, Stanford's assistant coach, can compete in the four-day event because it is an 'open' tournament. McKean and Zeller have played No. 3 doubles for the Cardinal this season and have won their last three matches. They are 5-3 overall.

Morrissey and Wire, the Cardinal's freshman tandem, have also won their last three matches as Stanford's No. 2 doubles team. They are 3-2 this season. Kaiser and Ryan teamed once before, at the ITA Northwest Regional in October.

Stanford returns to action on Wednesday, March 7 with a home match against Florida State beginning at 5:00 pm at the Taube Tennis Center.
