Box Score

Las Vegas - Jessica Evan's seventh inning RBI double to left field was the difference as DePaul handed 18th-ranked California a 2-1 loss in the second day of the UNLV Invitational on Saturday morning. The Bears (12-8) face UNLV later today at 3:45 p.m.

Cal's offense could not seem to get in sync, mustering just one hit versus Blue Demons starting pitcher Tracie Adix.

The Bears actually grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after Christina Schallig's infield groundout to the short stop scored Morgan Siegel, who led off the inning with a walk.

DePaul (10-3) answered right back to tie the score in the second inning after Linda Secka's single up the middle scored Sheaks.

California starting pitcher Lauren Frankiewicz pitched a scoreless third thru sixth innings, before the seventh inning hiccup. After Sheaks drew a lead-off walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch, Evans connected for a double to left field to plate Sheaks and give DePaul the win.

Carly Winger had the lone hit for the Golden Bears.
