McPherson Wins High Jump, Provisionally Qualifies in Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. - California's Inika McPherson won the women's high jump with an NCAA Championships provisional qualifying mark on Saturday at the UW Last-Chance Qualifier at Dempsey Indoor. The sophomore recorded a jump of 1.83 meters (6-0), just off the automatic qualifying mark of 1.84 meters.

Cal senior Kelechi Anyanwu won the women's shot put, with a throw of 14.77 meters (48-5.5), and sophomore teammate Missy Faubus was third with her throw of 14.57 (48-4.75). Both missed the provisional qualifying mark of 15.20 meters.

Bears freshman Ryan Shuler reached a height of 4.83 meters (15-10) to tie for 10th in the men's pole vault, but he fell short of the 5.20-meter provisional mark.

The NCAA Indoor Championships run March 9-10 in Fayetteville, Ark.
