DALLAS - University of Colorado tennis student-athlete Monica Milewski was named women's tennis Big 12 Player of the Week, announced the conference office Monday.
Milewski, a sophomore from Park Ridge, Ill., won both of her matches at No. 1 singles to help Colorado to a 1-1 week.
CU upset No. 14 Baylor, 5-2 and a lost a close 4-3 decision to BYU.
The Buffaloes improved to 3-0 in conference play, their best start ever in Big 12 play.
Against BYU, she posted a come-from-behind 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 win over Lauren Jones, then followed with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Baylor's Zuzana Cerna.
In doubles, she worked with Franziska Jendrian at No. 2 for two more wins.
Milewski defeated a pair of senior opponents at singles en route to improving to 8-2 in dual singles play, including 3-0 in the Big 12.
In her brief two-year collegiate career, Milewski has won 35 singles and 24 doubles matches.
