Men's Tennis Tops Memphis 6-1

TEMPE, Ariz. - With nearly flawless play in both singles and doubles action, the ASU Men's Tennis team grabbed their eighth win of the season Tuesday as they beat the Memphis Tigers 6-1. The Sun Devils are now 8-2 on the season while the Tigers drop to 3-6.

Nick Hegarty and Juan Carlos Rebaza led the way in singles for the Sun Devils, grabbing an 8-2 win in the three-spot over UM's Spencer Heflin and Garrison Pilant while Wes Miller and Matt Brooklyn in the No. 1 spot took down Amrit Narasimhan and Benedikt Fischer 8-4 to seal the point and boost ASU 1-0.

ASU came out equally as strong in singles as well, winning five, all in straight sets except for the six-spot which saw freshman Murilo Souza defeat Cody Loup 6-3, 6-7(6), 1-0(2).

T.J. Bellama in the five-spot wrapped up his match in quick fashion, taking a 6-1, 6-1 win from UM's Spencer Heflin and was followed up by Matt Brooklyn and Wes Miller who defeated their Memphis opponents 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-4 respectively.

ASU is now 8-2 on the season as they hit the road again to head east to South Carolina where they'll face South Alabama and Clemson March 11 and 12. Both matches will be played at Clemson University.
