Huskies To Battle Top Field At Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship

SEATTLE -- The 31st-ranked Washington men's golf team will travel to Las Vegas this weekend to compete in the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship, hosted by UNLV, March 9-11. The Huskies will battle many of the top teams in the country, with three of the top four nationally ranked squads highlighting the 15-team field.

For good measure, all 15 teams are tabbed in the latest GolfWeek Top-50 rankings including No. 2 Florida, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 7 Clemson, No. 8 UNLV, No. 13 UCLA, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 17 Georgia Tech, No. 19 Wake Forest, No. 21 Arizona State, No. 23 Texas, No. 26 Minnesota, No. 29 Arizona, No. 31 Washington and No. 41 Kentucky.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on the par-72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands Golf Course. Play will begin each day at 8 a.m. PST.

Washington's lineup will feature senior Alex Prugh, junior Zach Bixler, sophomore John Wise, freshman Nick Taylor and senior Erik Olson.

Host UNLV won last year's tournament title, while UNLV individual Matt Kinsinger took home medalist honors last season, shooting 2-under 214.
