Bruins Lead by Three After Day One In Las Vegas

The UCLA men's golf team took the first round lead at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Invitational Friday at Southern Highlands Golf Club.
The Bruins posted a team score of 282 (-6) and led second place Georgia (285, -3) by three shots. Georgia Tech was in third place at 286 (-2), followed by Arizona State at 290 (+2) and Minnesota at 292 (+4).
Individually for the Bruins, junior Kevin Chappell fired a first-round score of 68 (-4) and and trailed the leader in the clubhouse, Texas A&M's Martin Pillar by a shot. Sophomore Lucas Lee posted a 69 (-3) and was tied for fifth place and junior Daniel Im shot a 71 (-1) and was tied for ninth. Sophomores James Lee and Erik Flores each shot a 74 (+2) and were tied for 33rd.
Second round competition continues on Saturday.
