USC Welcomes Eight Teams To NCAA Tournament Action At Galen Center

March 12, 2007

The eight women's basketball teams converging on USC's newly built Galen Center have been announced. Four teams from the Greensboro Region -- Arizona State, Louisville, BYU and UC Riverside -- and four from the Dallas Region -- Texas A&M, George Washington, Boise State and Texas-Arlington -- are headed to Los Angeles this week to take their first steps in the 2007 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship. NCAA first-round games are set for Saturday, March 17, and the second-round games will be Monday, March 19.

A bumper crop of women's basketball teams will arrive in Los Angeles this week, ready for action at the Galen Center. From the Greensboro Region, Arizona State enters as the highest seed coming to first round in L.A., as the Sun Devils (28-4) are the No. 3 seed and will face off against No. 14 seed UC Riverside (21-10), which has the shortest trip off all participating teams as the lone California squad. On the other side of that group are No. 6 seed Louisville (26-7) and No. 11 BYU (23-9).

Out of the Dallas Region comes No. 4 seed Texas A&M (24-6), which faces No. 13 Texas-Arlington (24-8) in their first-round face-off. No. 5 seed George Washington (26-3) will face No. 12 Boise State (21-8) in the other first-round game.

It will be a busy Saturday at the Galen Center, with four games set to run throughout the day at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 5 p.m and 7:30 p.m. Those winners will move on to Sunday's second-round games, which are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Game times and matchups are below:
