Midles Sets Personal Best in Hammer Throw at Annual Ben Brown Invitational

In women's events, Trojan freshman Elizabeth Olear (11.75) won her 100-meter dash barely edging out teammate junior sprinter Jessica Onyepunuka (11.76) by one one-hundredths of a second. Onyepunuka also finished second in her 200-meter dash event with a personal best time of 23.54, tops among all collegiate runners.
Junior hurdler Talia Stewart just missed winning her 400-meter hurdle event, coming in second with a time of 61.68, eight hundredths of a second behind first place. Senior Michelle Sanford won the women's triple jump completing her day with a best of 40 feet 5 inches.
Sophomore hammer thrower Eva Orban wasn't able to break her own USC and personal best record but displayed enough power to win her event with a distance of 211-10. Fellow hammer-throwers senior Julia Rozenfeld (199-02) and senior Alexandra Williams (174-00) also finished in the top six.
Sophomore pole-vaulter Brandon Estrada reached a height of 16-6 3/4 on his best attempt to win the men's pole-vault event. Sophomore Aven Wright (46-11) and redshirt freshman Kevin Deiter (45-11 3/4) finished second and third respectively in the men's triple jump event.
The Trojans will next participate in separate men's and women's events on Mar. 17. The men will travel to Tucson, Ariz. for the Willie Williams Classic at the University of Arizona's Roy P. Drachman Stadium. The Women of Troy will make their way to Las Vegas, Nev. for a tri-meet while relay teams will take part in the Northridge Relays in Northridge, Calif.
