Lightweight Women's Rowing Opens Season Strong

Sacramento, Calif. - Stanford's Lightweight Women's Crew opened the season with strong performances at the Sacramento State Invitational. Racing in the heavyweight division, the Card held onto second place for 1500 meters before being overtaken by St. Mary's. In the varsity four, Stanford led by a length for 1700 meters, and then held off a hard charging St. Mary's in the last 300 meters.

'Both boats had really close/tough races,' said Stanford head coach Al Acosta. 'The four had an outstanding performance.'

The Stanford Lightweights will return to action on March 28th for a scrimmage against Santa Clara.
