Hans Gasser Named to Pac-10 All-Academic Team
March 26, 2007
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - University of Washington senior Hans Gasser, who recently completed his collegiate career, was named to the Pac-10 men's basketball All-Academic team for the second straight season.
The 6-foot-9 forward was also honored as a second-team selection in 2006. He compiled a 3.16 grade point average while majoring in business administration and entrepreneurship.
Gasser played 29 games for the Huskies who posted a 19-13 record during the 2006-07 season. He averaged 2.7 points and 1.4 rebounds, while playing nearly 10 minutes per game.
The Issaquah (Wash.) High School product drew his only collegiate start in his final home game, helping the Huskies upset second-ranked UCLA 61-51 on March 3 at Bank of America Arena.
Gasser was part of a dramatic turnaround in the Washington program. He arrived on campus prior to the 2003-04 season to join a team coming off four straight losing seasons. The Huskies earned NCAA Tournament berths in each of his first three years and advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2005 and 2006.
During Gasser's four-year career, the Huskies registered an impressive 93-38 record. UW finished second in the regular-season standings his first three seasons and won the 2005 Pac-10 Tournament championship.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
