BRUINS HOST UCSB, OPEN PAC-10 PLAY WITH ARIZONA SCHOOLS AT EASTON
UCLA plays host to UCSB with a 1pm single game on Tuesday afternoon before gearing up to play its first conference weekend of the 2007 season.
The Bruins and Gauchos have met annually since the 2001 season. The Gauchos are coached by former Bruin Kristy (Howard) Schroeder who is in her sixth season at UCSB.
The 2007 Pac-10 schedule will open with perhaps the most anticipated home weekend of the regular season with UCLA playing host to Arizona State on Friday and Arizona on Saturday and Sunday.
Arizona State has dropped the last 11 meetings with UCLA, a stretch that has spanned four years. Following a 2-1 Sun Devils victory at the Women's College World Series in 2002, ASU has dropped every game played between the teams. The opening game of the 2004 series was rained out and could not be made up .
One of the longest standing and most heated rivalries in college softball, the Bruins have swept the season series from Arizona in each of the last two years, outscoring the Wildcats 38-11 over that stretch.
SATURDAY'S GAME TELEVISED BY FOX SPORTS NET
UCLA will play in what is currently its only scheduled television game this Saturday when the Bruins play host to Arizona in the second Pac-10 game of the year for both schools.
The game will air three times locally, all on FSN Prime Ticket. The first airing will be at 1 pm on Sunday, April 1 with re-airs at 1 am that night and 5 pm on Monday evening.
