Nine Bears on Pac-10 All-Academic Teams

BERKELEY - California put eight women's swimmers and one women's diver on the Pac-10 All-Academic teams, Pac-10 Commissioner tom Hansen announced this week. Golden Bears senior Erin Reilly and junior Kelly Stravers earned spots on the conference's first team, while Cal sophomores Natalie LaRochelle and Emily Verdin were on the second team.

Bears junior Jessica Cotton, senior Annie Babicz, sophomore Lauren Rogers, senior Nadia Staubitz and freshman diver Tessa Berman were honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and either be a starter or significant contributor.

Reilly, who completed her college career with the third-place Cal team at the recent NCAA Championships, is a sociology major with a 3.65 GPA. Stravers is a political science major with a 3.80 GPA, LaRochelle, who is undeclared, has a 3.71 GPA and Verdin, a molecular cell biology major, has a 3.65 GPA.
