Rain Washes Out Most of Men's Competition at Texas Relays

April 7, 2007

Rain and cold weather washed most of the UCLA men's track and field competitors out of action on the final day of the Texas Relays in Austin. Marlon Patterson (mile) and the distance medley relay team were the only athletes to compete for the Bruins on Saturday.

Patterson, competing in the invitational mile, finished eighth in a time of 4:36.98. The DMR team of Laef Barnes, David Klech, Patterson and Mike Haddan placed fourth in a time of 9:57.12.

Mike Landers, David Murphy, John Caulfield, Nick Robinson and Darius Savage were slated to compete, but scratched due to the weather problems.

The Bruins return home next week as they host the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational April 12-14.
