Final Spring Practice For Cal Scheduled For Saturday
April 9, 2007
BERKELEY - The California football team will hold its final spring practice on Saturday afternoon beginning at 2 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. The event is free and open to the public, however, due to an event at the Greek Theatre, the University will be charging $15 for parking in the stadium area. The practice will involve the team conducting its usual sessions of drills and training sessions. There will NOT be a scrimmage, although some 11-on-11 drills are expected to take place.
In addition to the final chance to check out the Golden Bears this spring, fans will have the opportunity to visit a surplus equipment sale in the Prospect Avenue parking lot located on the south end of the stadium from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The surplus sale will include official Cal clothing from Golden Bear varsity sports teams, official Cal jerseys, Nike shoes and duffel bags. A limited amount of football equipment, such as kicking nets and ball bags, will be also available.
While the final spring practice begins at 2 p.m., the action at Memorial Stadium will begin at 11 a.m. as the California women's lacrosse team hosts Oregon in a crucial Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match.
In conjunction with the final football practice, 1,000 free burritos will be donated by Baja Fresh along with multiple other food concessions. The Cal Student Store will also be selling merchandise throughout the afternoon.
The 2007 Cal season kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 1 with the Golden Bears hosting Tennessee at Memorial Stadium. After the road trip to Colorado State, the Bears return home to face Louisiana Tech in another inter-sectional game. Season tickets are now available at www.CalBears.com or by calling 1-800-GO-BEARS. Single-game tickets will go on sale in June.
