Berkeley - According to head coach Diane Ninemire, the California Golden Bear softball team will add Carrie Arth and Lauren Bauer to the program for the 2008 season. Arth played two seasons at San Francisco State, while Bauer played in 50 games as a freshman last season for UC Riverside.
Arth appeared in 33 games for SF State last season and registered 10 RBI and two home runs. In 2006, Arth hit .373 with 13 RBI and was named to the All-CCAA Team.
Bauer produced a .246 batting average with 18 runs and 32 RBI for the Highlanders in 2007. A graduate from Livermore High School, Bauer helped her team reach the North Coast Section playoffs in three of her four years. She received first-team All-East Bay Athletic League Honors in her junior and senior years and hit .490 as a senior.
Cal finished last season with a 34-32 record and a 22nd consecutive berth to the NCAA postseason. With the bid, Cal has the longest active postseason streak in the Pac-10 and the second-longest streak in the nation.
