Sept. 4, 2007

Stanford women's soccer had three student athletes named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week, as announced by Robert Ziegler, editor of Top Drawer Soccer. The Cardinal prevailed in both of its games last weekend to win the BU Terrier Classic. The season opener was a 2-0 victory over Boston University and the second game on Sept. 2 was a 1-0 shutout of the University of Connecticut.

Cardinal senior goalkeeper Erica Holland (Lafayette, Calif.) was the first player listed to the team after posting two shutouts and making nine saves last weekend. Holland, who played all 180 minutes of action, made four saves in the season opening win against Boston University and came back with five more saves against No. 10 University of Connecticut.

Stanford redshirt senior defender Rachel Buehler (Del Mar, Calif.) also made the team after leading a defense that allowed only nine shots on goal in the two games. Buehler, who was a Soccer Buzz Preseason All-American selection, also added three shots against Boston University.

The third Stanford student-athlete to be named to the team was sophomore forward Kelley O'Hara (Fayetteville, Ga.) after scoring a goal in each of the two games. In the first game, O'Hara scored a goal in the 34th minute to give the Cardinal its first goal against Boston University. Then against Connecticut, O'Hara scored the only goal of the game in Stanford's 1-0 shutout of the Huskies. O'Hara also added an assist in the Boston University game, setting up freshman Morgan Redman (Indianapolis, Ind.) in the 79th minute of the game vs Boston University.
