Washington's Forrest Named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- WASHINGTON senior forward Kevin Forrest has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Aug. 28- Sept. 3, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Forrest, from Edmonds, Wash., helped the Huskies win the Nike Portland Invitational title this past weekend, scoring a hat trick in UW's first win of the season against Cal State Bakersfield and earning Outstanding Offensive Player honors.
In Washington's season opener against New Hampshire, Forrest tallied a team-high five shots but the Huskies battled to a scoreless double-overtime draw.
In the Huskies' second game of the tourney versus Cal State Bakersfield, Forrest scored the first of his three goals in the second minute of the match and then played a role in the next two scores in the 16th and 18th minutes. Forrest assisted the second goal scored by Ely Allen at 15:18 and then scored again at 17:20. His final goal came in the 84th minute.
It was the third career hat trick for Forrest who is a preseason All-American and Hermann Trophy candidate. Scoring the three goals, Sunday, moved him into UW's Top-10 career goals list where he ranks eighth (31). With 67 career points, Forrest needs 10 more to tie his father Ward for 10th on UW's all-time list for points.
Washington, ranked 15th in this week's Soccer America poll, plays at Spokane on Fri., Sept. 7.
This is Forrest's second weekly honor and the 17th all-time award for the Huskies.
