Recap | Final Stats | Quotes

• Win 150: Arizona State's 33-14 victory over Colorado not only improved the Sun Devils' season record to 2-0, it also gave Head Coach Dennis Erickson his 150th career coaching victory. Erickson, who is coaching in his 19th collegiate season, now stands 150-65-1 overall.

• Shaking off the Rust: Arizona State was shut out in the first quarter and managed just 35 total yards of offense. In the second quarter, however, the Sun Devils accumulated 206 total yards and scored 19 points. WR Michael Jones' 12-yard touchdown grab sparked an ASU run of 33 unanswered points.

• Picking Pockets: For the second game in a row, the Sun Devil defense picked off a pass, this time returning it for a score. In the second quarter, LB Robert James, who had one of the two picks against San Jose State, tipped a pass that SS Troy Nolan collected and returned 26 yards for a touchdown.

• Five Grand: QB Rudy Carpenter connected with WR Tyrice Thompson on an 8-yard pass play, giving the junior signal-caller 5,001 yards passing for his career. Carpenter finished the game with 269 yards on 19-of-37 passing with three touchdowns to bring his career yardage total to 5,262, the seventh-most in school history, moving him ahead of Mike Pagel (1978-81), who accumulated 5,196.

• Moving Up: QB Rudy Carpenter connected with WR Michael Jones for the second time in the game at the 1:27 mark in the third quarter giving the Sun Devil junior 45 career TD passes and moving him into seventh all-time. He surpassed Jeff Van Raaphorst (1984-86), who collected 44 in his career.

• Getting it Going: QB Rudy Carpenter hit WR Michael Jones for a 12-yard touchdown strike late in the second quarter, capping a 12-play, 80-yard drive. Prior to the drive, the Sun Devils had run 26 plays for a total of 75 yards, including only 35 yards of offense on 19 plays during the entire first quarter.

• Big Target: Not only did WR Michael Jones help QB Rudy Carpenter move up several career statistical lists, Jones made some moves of his own as the junior wide out hauled in six passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns, all three of which are career highs (surpassing his five-reception, 72-yard and one touchdown performance against Hawai'i in the 2006 Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl). Entering the season, Jones had just three touchdown receptions in his career (all three in 2006) and now has three on the season through two games.

• Hash Marks: Arizona State scored 19 points in the second quarter, bringing its season total to 40 points. Overall, the Sun Devils have scored a total of 71 (45 vs. San Jose State and 26 vs. Colorado) with half of those points coming in the second stanza ... ASU has not allowed a point in the third quarter, shutting out both San Jose State and Colorado after halftime.
