Sophomore Rory Hie is tied for fifth and freshman Tim Sluiter is tied for 13th as the USC men's golf team finished the first 36 holes of the 2007 Inverness Intercollegiate in seventh place on Monday (Sept. 10) at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

USC, employing three freshmen and playing without All-American sophomore Jamie Lovemark because of his recent action in the Walker Cup, finished the first day with a 14-over 582 (293-289). Florida State is in first at 568.

Hie fired rounds of 70 and 72 for an even 142, which included four birdies in the first round and an eagle in the second on the par-5, 516-yard 13th hole.

Sluiter finished 2-over at 144 (73-71) in his first collegiate action. Junior Tom Glissmeyer is tied for 24th at 5-over 147 (75-72), redshirt freshman Bo DeHuff is tied for 49th at 9-over 151 (77-74) and freshman Gavin Reid is tied for 64th at 11-over 153 (75-78).

Tuesday's final round begins at 8 a.m. (CST).
