No. 1 Stanford Places Four on SCU/adidas All-Tournament team
Sept. 11, 2007
No. 1 Stanford had four players named today to the Santa Clara/adidas All-Tournament team from the past weekend. The Cardinal (4-0-0) was able to win the tournament after their 2-1 overtime victory over No. 2 Notre Dame on Sunday.
Allison Falk was named tournament MVP after the Stanford defense allowed only two goals in the tournament. The Cardinal held No. 11 Virginia and No. 2 Notre Dame to one goal apiece in both of the 2-1 victories.
Kelley O'Hara was also named to the All-Tournament team after recording a goal and an assist in the two games. O'Hara also drew two penalty shots that set up game-winning goals in both of the games. The penalty shots were later converted by Shari Summers and Lizzy George.
George and Rachel Buehler were also named to the All-Tournament team for their strong overall play on both sides of the field. George led the offense and put heavy pressure on the opposing defense in both games. Buehler led a defense that allowed only two goals all weekend against two highly ranked teams.
The Cardinal return to action on Sept. 14 against Missouri University in the first day of the Stanford Invitational at 7:30 p.m.
