Volley-Blog: Ashley Aratani
Sept. 12, 2007
Every Wednesday during the volleyball season a different senior Husky Volleyball player will write a blog entry for GoHuskies.com. This week we hear from defensive specialist Ashley Aratani, who appeared in all 34 matches for the Huskies last season.
It has been an extremely eventful week for the Huskies. The football team defeated Boise State and is now 2-0!!! This past weekend we traveled to Long Beach, California to play against Long Beach State University and Florida State University. The weather treated us very well, especially when we were poolside, soaking up the warm sun! In our downtime, a few of the girls choreographed a synchronized swimming performance filled with acrobatic jumps and spins, which was fully appreciated by the rest of the team. We also discovered what the simple pleasures of a game called Zoom could be. The players curl their lips over their teeth while saying, 'zoom' or 'ah' to each other while trying not to show their teeth. Becky's (Becky Perry) face was unforgettable. On the plane ride back to Seattle, Jill (Jill Collymore) and some of the other girls wrote a rap song about the players who sit in the back of the bus. Someday, this song will reign on the top spot of all the billboard charts.
That pretty much sums up my week as a Husky volleyball player. On a side note, since I don't have cable or Internet yet, Blockbuster has become my best friend. Movies I would recommend renting: The Departed, Pan's Labyrinth, and Babel. TV shows I would recommend renting: Arrested Development, Weeds, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and The Office. Movie to watch in theaters: Superbad (it's super awesome).
