Bruins and Toreros Play to 0-0 Draw in San Diego

San Diego, Calif. - Senior goalkeeper Valerie Henderson set a new school record for shutouts, as the sixth-ranked UCLA women's soccer team tied San Diego, 0-0 on Friday night at Torero Stadium. The Bruins, who played to their first scoreless draw in nearly two years, move to 2-1-1 on the season. San Diego is now 2-1-2.
Henderson, who entered the match tied with former Bruin Lindsay Cup with 31 career shutouts, picked up the 32nd of her career on Friday to earn the school record. Henderson also holds the UCLA career record for victories with 58.
The Bruins dominated the Toreros for much of the evening, owning a 24-6 advantage in the final shot count. UCLA was paced by sophomore Lauren Cheney who had a match-high seven shots, including three on goal. Sophomore Kristina Larsen also had a shot hit the post in the 14th minute.
UCLA moves to 13-1-3 all time against USD. The Bruins extended their unbeaten streak against the Toreros to 16 matches.
UCLA heads back to the Los Angeles Area on Sunday, taking on Cal State Northridge at 3:00 p.m. The match will be at the Matador Soccer Field on the campus of CSUN.
