UCLA Tennis Players to Compete in Main Draws at ITA All-American Championships

LOS ANGELES - UCLA's Haythem Abid, Tracy Lin, Riza Zalameda and Yasmin Schnack will all be competing this week at the ITA All-American Championships, held in both Tulsa, Okla. and Los Angeles.

The men's event, officially called the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Championships, takes place at the University of Tulsa's Michael D. Case Tennis Center, site of the 2008 NCAA Championships. Abid, the lone UCLA men's player in the singles draw, is a 9-16 seed and will take on Tulsa's Will Gray in Thursday's first round.

The Bruin women are just a short drive from the UCLA campus this week, as they are taking part in the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships at the Riviera Country Club. Schnack advanced to the main singles draw on Wednesday, defeating Georgia Tech's Christy Striplin, 6-4, 6-4 in the final round of qualifying. Her opponent in the main draw has yet to be determined. Zalameda opens up play against Georgia's Monica Dancevic, while Lin faces Miami's Laura Vallverdu.

Schnack and Zalameda are also playing in the main doubles draw and will take on Auburn's Alexandra Haney/Melissa Koning in Thursday's opening round.
