Cougars On the Road Again, Face Huskies in Seattle

THIS WEEK: Washington State plays its 13th match of the season, 10th away from home, when the Cougars take on arch-rival Washington in Seattle, Friday Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

NATIONAL RANKINGS: The Cougars are ranked eighth in the West Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America...receiving votes in the NSCAA, Soccer Buzz and Soccer Times national polls.

SUCCESS ON THE ROAD: Washington State has won seven times away from home this season (four road, three neutral)...will attempt to equal the school record set in 2000 (six road, two neutral) this week at Washington.

EARLY DEFENSE: The Cougars have given up 10 goals this season, only two in the first half...Utah scored in the second minute of a 3-3 tie, Sept. 9 and Idaho State tallied its lone goal of a 1-1 tie in the 24th minute, Sept. 30.

MORE DEFENSE: Washington State is 20-9-7 (.653) dating back to the last four matches of the 2005 season...during that span, Cougars have given up 25 goals (0.69 per match).

SCORE TO WIN: Beginning with conference play in 2006, the Cougars are 12-1-2 (.833) when they score at least one goal...WSU has been shut out six times during that stretch posting a 0-4-2 record when failing to score.

OVERTIME SESSIONS: The Cougars have played five overtimes matches this season (WSU 2-1-2) 1998 and 2000, Cougars played seven matches that went into overtime.

COUGARS IN SEATTE: Washington State is 6-11-1 all-time when playing in Seattle...Cougars lost to Washington club team and defeated Seattle Pacific in 1989...beat Seattle in 1989 and 1991...knocked off Washington in 1992 and 2005...lost to California in 1994...lost to Washington in 1994, 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2003...lost to Portland and defeated UC Irvine in 1999...lost to North Carolina and Maryland in 2003...lost to New Mexico and tied BYU in 2006.

SOCCER RPI: In the first women's soccer RPI of the season (through matches of Oct. 8), Washington State was fourth in the Pacific-10 Conference, eighth in the West Region, and 24th nationally...Stanford (second), USC (third) and UCLA (14th) were the three conference schools ahead of the Cougars.
