Courtney Crane on ASU Soccer: Senior Weekend

Oct. 30, 2007

Some of you may have noticed that there was no journal last week. This was due to an unfortunate incident. Now, before I go onto explain, I would like to present a warning to all of you food eaters out there: DO NOT EVER GET FOOD POISONING!

Yes, while on our trip to Oregon, I and two of my teammates found ourselves in a situation that was far from pleasant. The three of us became extremely sick on Friday evening after eating something that apparently should not have been eaten. So, the three of us spent our Saturday afternoon in the hospital on I.V. ...It was terrible! I am never going to eat a tuna sandwich again.

On a happier note, this last weekend was our senior weekend. It was a blast! The girls who aren't graduating decorated all the seniors' lockers and they did a great job! Mine was decorated in a snowboard/wakeboard theme and I got socks, lots of candy, a photo album and a knight's sword, which was awesome! The girls spent so long on our lockers and we all felt very loved.

It's kind of weird to think about how I am graduating. Soccer has been my life for the last 5 years and it has shaped me into who I am. I know that I will be OK without soccer, however I am really going to miss it. There is one thing that I won't miss about soccer, though, and that is spring training. For those of you who don't know, spring training consists of a lot of conditioning and lifting and very little soccer. I will be extremely happy when spring comes and I don't have to go to a running practice ! As for what's next? I'm really not sure yet, but for now, my focus is still 100% on soccer (and maybe an interview here and there...).

This past weekend we tied No.4 Stanford and although it would have been awesome to win, it allows us to still be in the running for playoffs. We are going to have to have two great games when we head to Southern Cal this weekend.
