Oct. 31, 2007

Former Bruin and American Record-holder in the 10,000m, Meb Keflezighi, will compete at the New York Marathon in the U.S. Olympic Trials this weekend with the hopes of earning a spot on next summer's U.S. Olympic Team. The race will be held on Saturday beginning at 7:30 am (EST) and will start in Rockefeller Plaza and finish near Tavern on the Green.

A total of 134 men, out of 179 qualifiers, have officially entered the race that will name the first three members of Team USA's Track & Field team for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

The final entry list includes Keflezighi, 2004 Olympic Trials champion Alan Culpepper, and American record holder Khalid Khannouchi.

Keflezighi earned the silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics, and although he has been hampered by injuries lately, he is ready to vie for a spot on the U.S. team.
