Matt Brooklyn Falls in Quarterfinals of Texas Invitational

On day two of the Texas Invitational, Matt Brooklyn of Arizona State advanced to the quarterfinal round, but was defeated in the quarterfinals. Brooklyn defeated Brad Williams of Texas A & M in two sets in the round of 16. After winning 6-1 in the first set, Brooklyn pulled out a 7-6 victory in the second to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals; however, he fell in two sets 6-4, 7-6.

The doubles team of Wes Miller and Brooklyn also competed over the weekend. In the round of 64 they defeated Justin Raiti of St. Ed's and Jamie Holmes of Nebraska 8-5 to advance to the round of 32. They advanced to the round of 16 after beating Jamaal Hepburn of Boise St. and Kayvon Karimi of Texas A & M 8-2 but fell 8-2 to Marquette's team of Brett Binkley and Mark Retherford in the round of 16.

The Sun Devils host the annual Thunderbird Tournament this upcoming weekend at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz. The tournament begins on Friday Nov. 9 and concludes on Sunday.
