No. 6 USC Aces Its Way To 3-0 Sweep At Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Senior All-America outside hitter Asia Kaczor (Wroclaw, Poland/College of Southern Idaho) recorded 22 kills and tied a school record with eight service aces Friday as the No. 6 USC Trojans swept the Oregon State Beavers, 3-0 (30-27, 30-18, 30-19), in a Pac-10 match.
Kaczor also had three block assists and three digs to tie her personal-best with 31.5 points on the evening. She has recorded 31.5 points three times in her USC career, but both times were accomplished in longer matches (five games at Arizona State on Oct. 6, 2006, and four games vs. Stanford on Oct. 27, 2007).
The eight service aces ties four other players, including three who also did it in three games. The last player to have eight aces was Janice Johnson vs. UC Irvine on Nov. 23, 1982.
Jessica Gysin had 11 kills while Taylor Carico had 42 assists with three kills and four digs for the Women of Troy. Freshman Kimmee Roleder saw her first action since Oct. 12 after missing the past month with a foot injury.
Rachel Rourke led the Beavers (10-17, 3-12) with 13 kills.
The Trojans (21-4, 10-4) found themselves down 25-18 in game one before going on a 12-2 run after a timeout for the win. Kaczor registered 10 kills in the first game. USC hit .406 in game two and finished the match with a .348 hitting clip.
USC returns home for its final two regular season matches against No. 4 Washington and Washington State on Friday (Nov. 16) and Saturday (Nov. 17). Friday's match against Washington will begin at 7:30 p.m. and broadcast live in the Pacific Northwest by FOX Sports Net.
