ASU Women's Basketball Hosts Chinese National Team in Final Exhibition
Nov. 15, 2007
The No. 15/14 Arizona State women's basketball team resumes play on Thursday night when it hosts the Chinese National Team at 6:30 p.m. in Wells Fargo Arena. Like last week's contest against the USA National Team, Thursday's game against the Chinese National Team will be an exhibition contest.
ASU officially opened its 2007-08 last Sunday with a 75-60 setback at North Carolina in the State Farm Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic. Junior Danielle Orsillo led ASU with a career-best 21 points while senior Jill Noe added 13 points.
Sunday's game at North Carolina marked the Sun Devil debuts of juniors Lauren Lacey (6 points, eight rebounds) and Sybil Dosty (1 steal, 1 rebound) and freshman Becca Tobin (5 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block). Dosty was very limited and was only able to play eight minutes.
The Chinese National Team enters Thursday's game with a 2-3 record. It picked up wins over New Mexico (67-61) and UTEP (77-75) and fell to Texas A&M, North Carolina (70-68) and Rutgers (77-61). Thursday's game will be the final game of its national college tour.
Fans who bring a new or gently used book to Thursday night's game will receive a special $2 general admission ticket price. All books will be donated to Phoenix Children's Hospital.
Fans who are unable to attend the game can listen to the broadcast on either KXAM 1310 AM or on the sundevilsportsnetwork.com (subscription service).
Following Thursday's game the Sun Devils resume the regular season portion of their schedule on Saturday afternoon when host UC-Santa Barbara at 4 p.m. in Wells Fargo Arena.
