Cross Country Places Nine Runners On All-West Region Team

Stanford places two men and six women on the 2007 Cross Country All-West Region team, announced by U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. All-Region honors are given to an athlete who finishes in the top 25 at their respective regional meet and whose team is a member of the USTFCCCA.
Neftalem Araia and Hari Mix, who placed sixth and tenth respectively at the NCAA West Regional, represent the Stanford men on the list. Araia and Mix helped lead the Cardinal men to a third place finish in the meet with 100 team points.
On the women's side, Lindsay Allen (19th), Lauren Centrowitz (10th), Alex Gits (3rd), Katie Harrington (14th), Arianna Lambie (5th), and Teresa McWalters (1st) guided Stanford to its ninth straight Regional crown as they scored a dominating 33 points to take the team title. McWalters captured her first individual regional title, as she was named the 2007 NCAA West Regional Women's Runner of the Year.
Both the men and women head to Terre Haute, IN for the NCAA Championships on Monday, November 19. The men's race will begin at 9:00 a.m., PT and the women's race is slated to start at 9:55 a.m., PT. Both races will be televised live on CSTV.
