No. 7 Cal Men's Swimming Notches a Pair of Third-Place Finishes at Hoosierland Open

BLOOMINGTON, IND. - The No. 7-ranked Cal men's swimming and diving team had two, third-place finishes Saturday during the final day of the Hoosierland Open, held at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center in Bloomington, Ind. Junior Ian Lentz was third in the 200 fly (1:50.68) and swam the anchor leg of the Golden Bears' 400 free relay that placed third. Cal's 400 free relay team of freshman Andrew Godbe, freshman Alex Cushing, junior Dash Rothberg and Lentz turned in a final time of 3:06.48 after swimming a 3:05.00 in the prelims.

Other Bear swimmers in the finals were sophomore Troy Nissen, who placed fourth (2:04.96), and freshman Nick Ferrif, who placed sixth (2:06.33), in the 200 breast. Cushing finished sixth in the 100 free (46.97) and freshman Daniel Smith was eighth in the 200 back (1:53.83). Cal's top finish in the 1,650 free was senior Michael Jafari, who placed 13th with a time of 16:01.15 after swimming 15:50.32 in the prelims.

In platform diving, junior Sam Helvie was sixth (320.30), freshman Taylor Dehn was eighth (270.25), junior Brian Lawler was ninth (267.50) and freshman Thomas Henninger was 10th (239.20).

The Bears will next compete in the Husky Invitational, Nov. 30-Dec. 2, in Federal Way, Wash.
