BERKELEY, Calif. - Despite Sarah Reaves and Staci Smith pairing up for 12 kills apiece the Sun Devil Volleyball team was not able to hold off the No. 6 Cal Golden Bears as they were swept 30-27, 34-32, and 30-22 Saturday night in Berkeley. The Sun Devils are now 15-14 overall and 7-9 in conference play as the Bears improve to 22-6 overall and 12-5 in the Pac-10.

Sarah Reaves led the offense in first game with a game-high six kills while Sara Todorovich and Staci Smith both collected four kills. The Cal Bears weren't to be silenced though as Hana Cutura and Angie Pressey both had five kills with three other Bears collecting three each as Cal hit .362 collectively to take the first 30-22.

Game two saw a spark ignite under the Sun Devils as they came out with a fire to put the Bears to the limits. Sarah Reaves and Staci Smith both had five kills apiece in the game. The Sun Devils went on a three point opening run in the game before the Bears came back to battle it out. 19 tie scores and seven lead changes later the Bears were finally able to edge the Sun Devils in extra points with a 34-32 win.

The Bears came out with a vengeance in the third game as they hit a .450 team attack percentage to go on a tear with Angie Pressey leading the way with six kills for an amazing .500 attack percentage. Staci Smith collected three of ASU's ten kills, but the effort fell short as Cal took the sweep with a 30-22 win.

The Sun Devils will return home next weekend as they set for their final matches of the 2007 season where they will face No. 8 USC and No. 10 UCLA at home in Tempe at Wells Fargo Arena. The matches are set for Friday, November 23 and Saturday, November 24 at 7 p.m.
