Brink, Jackson, Forbath Named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Football Players of tthe Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Quarterback Alex Brink of Washington State , defensive end Lawrence Jackson of USC and kicker Kai Forbath of UCLA have been named U.S. Bank Pac-10 Football Players of the Week.

Brink, a senior from Eugene, Ore., ended his collegiate career with a bang as he led Washington State to a come-from-behind 42-35 upset win against rival Washington in the Apple Cup. Brink completed 27 of 40 passes (.675) for 399 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions. His touchdown passes covered 41, 19, 28, 40 and 35 yards, with the final one the game-winner with 31 seconds left on the clock. Brink finished his career in third place on the Pac-10 career passing list with 10,913 yards.

Jackson, a senior from Inglewood, Calif., led USC's defensive effort in the Trojans' 44-24 showdown win at then-No. 6-ranked Arizona State. Jackson posted eight tackles, seven solo, including a school-record 5.5 tackles for loss (-26) and four quarterback sacks (-22) and forced a fumble. The USC defense limited Arizona State to 16 yards rushing, 259 yards total offense and recorded six quarterback sacks (-40). Jackson also was named the national defensive player of the week by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Forbath, a freshman from Pacific Palisades, Calif., accounted for 10 of the 16 points scored in UCLA's 16-0 win against Oregon. He was perfect on three field goal attempts, connecting from 54, 31 and 28 yards, and made his only PAT attempt. Forbath upped his season field goal total to 22 made, a new Pac-10 season record for field goals made by a freshman.

Also nominated for offensive player of the week honors was quarterback John David Booty of USC. Also nominated on defense were linebackers Christian Taylor of UCLA and Andy Mattingly of Washington State. Return man Rudy Burgess of Arizona State and kicker David Buehler of USC were nominated for special teams play.
