No. 11 Cal Men's Swimming Finishes First Day of Husky Invitational

SEATTLE - The No. 11-ranked Cal men's swimming competed in five events Thursday at the Husky Invitational, held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way Wash. Top finishes for the Golden Bears were Cal's 400 Medley relay of junior David Russell, freshman Damir Dugonjic, senior Jernej Godec, junior William Copeland placing first with a time of 3:11.75, Cal's 200 Freestyle relay of junior William Copeland, senior Jernej Godec, senior Joe Whittington and freshman Graeme Moore placing second with a time of 1:20.15, senior Mark Eckert finishing third in the 200 IM with a time of 1:48.18 and Godec and Whittington finishing second and third respectively in the 50 Free (19.69, 19.74). All times were season highs in their respective event.

Other top individual finishes for the Bears were Copeland placing fourth in the 50 free (19.97) and senior Louis Vayo, sophomore Sean Mahoney and sophomore Aaron Casey finishing sixth, seventh and ninth respectively in the 200 IM (1:49.13, 1:49.69, 1:50.72).

In the second day of the Husky Invitational on Friday, Nov. 30, Cal will be participating preliminaries beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the finals starting at 6 p.m.
