Nov. 30, 2007

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State freshmen Micah Hannam and Chima Nwachukwu were each named to The Sporting News' 2007 Pacific-10 Conference All-Freshman Team, it was announced recently.

Hannam, a native of Gig Harbor, Wash., started all 12 games at right tackle for the Cougars, helping the offensive line pave the way for two different 100-yard rushers and protect quarterback Alex Brink, who led the conference in total offense this season. As a team WSU leads the conference in passing offense (319.7 yards per game) and ranks second in total offense (435.6 yards per game).

Nwachukwu, a native of Allen, Texas, started all 12 games for WSU this season. The 5-foot-11, 189-pound true freshman finished sixth on the team in tackles with 73 stops (48 solo). Nwachukwu also intercepted one pass, recorded five pass break-ups and forced a fumble.

Earlier this week Nwachukwu was also named Scout.com Freshman All-America honorable mention.
