Rachel Buehler Named to U.S National Team Training Camp Roster

The U.S. Women's National team will hold its final training camp of 2007, and the first under new coach Pia Sundhage on Dec. 8-12 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Rachel Buehler, along with six other collegiate players will join the rest of the National Team as they prepare for the CONCACAF Women's Olympic Final Round qualifying tournament. This tournament will be held April 2-13 in Chihuahua, Mexico, and two countries from the six-team tournament will advance to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Buehler, comes into this training camp with considerable youth National team experience as she has represented the USA at the FIFA youth world championships and trained with the full National Team during Residency Training Camps. Buehler has also compete U-21 Women's National Team and has traveled with her teams to the Nordic Cup in Sweden, Norway and Finland. She also previously competed with the U-19, U-17 and U-16 National Teams.

Buehler is coming off another impressive year in which she led the Cardinal to their second Third Round appearance in a row, and a 15-3-5 overall record. Buehler anchored a defense that allowed just 0.74 goals per game and recorded nine shutouts on the season.

Nicole Barnhart, who led the U.S. to a 4-0 victory over Mexico last Oct. 18, will also continue to train with the squad along with fellow goalkeepers Hope Solo and Briana Scurry.
